Assistance with fees:
Bursaries
We are keen that the Langley educational experience is available as widely as possible. The School is able to offer bursaries of various levels as long as students can satisfy the entry requirements of the school.
Langley offers its bursaries to ensure access for students who demonstrate particular potential and whose families would be otherwise unable to afford full fees.
Bursaries are dependent on the level of parental income and are reviewed on a regular basis.
For more details on bursaries please contact the Bursar on 01508 528044.
Scholarships
A number of scholarships and exhibitions are offered by the Governors for entry to the School. These are awarded on merit and are open to both internal and external candidates via an examination and interview in February.
More details are available by clicking the 'how to apply' or 'scholarship' icons.
A full term's notice in writing or a full term's fees in lieu of notice is required before the removal of a student, before an optional extra is discontinued or the boarding status of a student changes. The only exceptions to this rule affects students in the Upper 6th form of the senior school and pupils in the top form of the preparatory school who will naturally be leaving their respective schools at the end of that year. This notice must be given not later than the first day of term. Without such notice, an additional full term's fees in lieu of notice will also be payable.
Remission of fees is not made for absence due to illness, accident, quarantine or any other cause. There is, however, a School Fees Protection Scheme in respect of absence due to sickness, which will automatically apply unless you have opted out. The cost of this will be charged in arrears on your account.
There is a Non - refundable Registration Fee of £50.00 payable on application. An Acceptance Deposit is payable as soon as a place is offered in order to secure that place. This sum will be credited to your final account after outstanding charges have been deducted. Further details regarding Deposits are given separately.
An initial charge of £150.00 covers the provision and laundering of sheets and pillowcases and the laundering of duvet covers during the time a boarder spends at school. This is reduced to £75.00 where the student is joining at 6th Form level.
All cheques should be made payable to Langley School (1960) Ltd.
Please contact the Accountant if you require information on the planning and payment of school fees or details regarding
our scheme for Lump Sum Payment of Fees.
EXTRAS
Education at both Langley School and Langley Preparatory School extends beyond the classroom and may involve varying costs. These provide the individual students with extra tuition in class-taught subjects, optional extras e.g. instrumental music and other subjects of interest, which are run through clubs and activities e.g. pottery.
Although we attempt to keep the cost to a minimum, it is imperative that the School acts fairly with respect to the fees that parents are charged. The peripatetic staff and the schools therefore have to make charges for some of the activities the schools offer
Extra tuition required for students which the School considers is necessary in order to bring the student up to a desirable standard will be discussed with parents. The cost varies depending on the subject, but will not be more than £22.00 per hour and the total should not exceed £700 per term regardless of the subjects taken or the number of lessons taught.
Charges incurred by students including stationery, 6th Form books, entertainments, padlocks, examination fees, school magazine, travel etc. will be added to your account in arrears. Parents will be consulted in advance before incurring major items of chargeable expenditure. Langley Parents’ Association subscriptions are charged in advance.
