Houses

Mancroft House was named after a magnificent church (the St Peter Mancroft) in Norwich which dates from the 15th century. It is thought the name comes from the shortening of the name of the area set aside for the new market – ‘Great Field’, in latin ‘Magna Crofta’ hence Mancroft. It is good to know that there are very sound historical foundations to our name!
We in Mancroft firmly believe that the whole is greater than the individual but that individual achievements should also be recognised. We believe that healthy competition should be encouraged and that a spirit of fairness and teamwork should prevail. Mancroft is a lively house with 120 individuals and all students are encouraged to air their views. We are keen on giving time to charitable events and this an area that students take part in with great enthusiasm.
We have had plenty of success and look forward to the challenges of the future as the Houses become a more integrated part of school life.
Although our history may hail from Norwich I am sure our successes will be more forthcoming than the football clubs’!!
