Merger Update - 26.02.2010

Dear Parents
I am very pleased to announce the appointment of the following staff to positions of responsibility within Thorpe House Langley Preparatory School with effect from September 2010.
Mr David Sowry has been appointed Deputy Headteacher. He is currently Head of Mathematics at Town Close House School and is already resident in Thorpe St.Andrew! There was a very strong field of candidates for this post; twenty nine applications from all over the world. Three excellent candidates were short listed, interviewed and observed teaching and Mr Sowry performed consistently well across all areas of the interview process. He is 35 years old and has two young children. He has a BSc degree in Mathematics and Technology with Qualified Teacher Status and helps with coaching cricket, hockey, soccer and rugby. Prior to teaching at Town Close, he taught at Port Regis School in Dorset and within the state system in Buckinghamshire.
We have also appointed our Key Stage Co-ordinators – all from within our current teaching staff. Mrs Nichols and Mrs Leggett (both LPS) will share responsibility for co-ordinating the delivery of the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum. Miss Holmes (LPS) will continue as Key Stage 1 Co-ordinator and Mrs Bill (THS) will be our Key Stage 2 Co-ordinator.
I am confident that this is a strong, dynamic and experienced group of staff to take on the management of the new school with me and to establish the school as the best school of its type in the area. As soon as we have had a chance to meet and get to know each other I will set up an opportunity for parents to meet them also. Now that the management team is established we will be interviewing and appointing the remaining staff for the school and I will keep you informed as soon as appointments are made.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions in the meantime.
Yours sincerely,

Simon Marfleet,
Headmaster.
