We are very proud to have been awarded Artsmark Gold status in recognition of the high quality arts provision we offer all students here at Langley School.
Artsmark is an award for schools that demonstrates their absolute commitment to embedding arts and cultural experiences at the very heart of students’ learning.
A Gold Artsmark School
As a Gold Artsmark school, Arts Council England (ACE) recognises the extent of our commitment to arts and cultural education at a governing body level, as well as the strength of subject leadership exhibited within these areas. ACE celebrates the considerable number of Arts opportunities we offer our pupils, both within and outside of the curriculum, from LAMDA awards through to incredible trips abroad (recently Iceland, Dubai and Morocco, to name but a few). It also underlines the strength and quality of our arts output and acknowledges how we look to share best creative practice within our extended community, with various subject ‘Masterclasses’ being delivered across local Primary schools.
Being part of the Artsmark community has also brought us into contact with new arts organisations. By exchanging ideas and professional dialogues with other like-minded schools, professionals and companies, pupils of all ages now have the opportunity to experience the Arts first-hand, collaborating in workshops, famous author talks or by watching live professionals in action. There’s also the chance to take part in national competitions, where our results and recent successes speak for themselves (Royal Academy Summer Art Exhibition – Langley pupils’ work chosen for display, English Speaking Union Shakespeare competition – 3 national finalists in the last 2 years).
Here at Langley, the Arts are brought to the attention of all students, with achievements, their promotion and praise very much to the fore. Excellence has always been part of our C.O.R.E. values (Commitment, Opportunity, Respect & Excellence) and nowhere is this more evident than in our Arts and Culture provision.
