During the October 2018 half-term, a group of 11 pupils, staff and parents from Langley school visited Beijing for 7 days. There was a mix of Chinese and English students on the trip, ranging from Year 9 to Year 13. This was the first time Langley had run a trip to China and it served as both a cultural experience and also an opportunity for language learning and consolidation for the 5 English students in Years 11 and 13 who are taking Chinese examinations at the end of this year.
As well as visiting sights such as Tiananmen square, the Forbidden City, the Summer Palace and the Great Wall the group also took in a number of opportunities for language practice at local markets. This was complimented by calligraphy and kung-fu lessons as well as a tea ceremony. While the schedule was action packed, events flowed smoothly and everyone enjoyed their trip.An exhausted, but happy, group arrived back at Norwich airport via Amsterdam with a great many tales to tell.
