Afternoon with the fastest kayaker on the planet

On Tuesday 5th December the Langley Kayaking Academy athletes and coaches travelled to Dorney Lake, home of the 2012 Sprint Kayaking Olympics, to train with current Olympic 200m K1 Champion and world record holder, Liam Heath.

Liam and his GB coach Eric Farrell were kind enough to spend time with our athletes, answering questions and chatting through the training programme of a world class kayker and what it takes to prepare for the Olympics.

To round off an eventful day, Liam along with our athletes (James How, Tim Dowden and Toby Booth) went on the water for a 12 x 100m every 4 minutes low stroke rate K1 session.

“It was a remarkable day and an unforgettable experience for all of the Academy, we all took away memories and advice having spent an afternoon with the fastest kayaker on the planet”.
