In order to prepare for the Junior European National Kayak Championships, our Year 11 pupil Toby Booth entered the Norwich Sprint Triathlon recently for some cross training. Toby (16 years old) finished 4th in the under 18 men category in the triathlon demonstrating the Langley Kayaking Academy philosophy of developing all round athletes who are adaptable and robust – the event was 750m swim, 20K bike and 5K run.

Next week Toby and Tim Dowden (our current Head boy) race together in a double in the K2 kayak (for 2 people) race against the best juniors in Europe. It’s a unique situation to have a K2 with both paddlers from the same school selected for a major championship. The two will line up at 11.15 on the morning of Friday 26th July at the course in Decize in France for the 6 lap 20K race. Tim Dowden will also compete the day before in the K1 junior race. The results can be followed here: https://cemcd2019.wixsite.com/cemcd19/resultats-eng.

Good luck to them both.
