Our Year 2s enjoyed an enthralling day at Strangers’ Hall travelling back in time to The Great Fire of London. They were greeted by two sisters who had escaped the fire in London and travelled to Norfolk. Our pupils looked at objects which would have been used around the time of the Great Fire including many candle holders and different equipment used to make candles and how they would have been used around the home, to help their understanding of why fires were so common at the time. The children took part in a re-enactment of The Great Fire of London, with saw some of our children hurriedly trying to put out the fire using buckets of water from the River Thames while other children were the houses on fire which could not be controlled. Luckily we all managed to make it back to 2019 at the end of our adventure! A fantastic day was had by all.
