About Langley Preparatory School at Taverham Hall
Centred around a beautiful neo-Jacobean hall, the Preparatory School and purpose built Pre-Prep facilities nestle in 100 acres of stunning, private woodland. Just six miles from Norwich City centre, our day school is a popular choice.
Our mission at Langley Preparatory School at Taverham Hall is to create a community of empowered learners in a family atmosphere of mutual trust and respect.
Our pupils are encouraged to make decisions for themselves, have respect for one another, display tolerance and consideration for others whilst gaining an appreciation of the wider natural world. With the support of all staff pupils recognise the value of their responsibility in the learning process. Within the School’s 100 acre campus, our pupils have the opportunity, time and space to become independent learners and well-rounded citizens.
Each pupil, whatever their ability, will be motivated to develop skills, interests and understanding through personalised, academic learning programmes and investigative hands-on experiences in the School’s unique woodland environment. We aim to develop children who are resilient, independent, confident, caring and well-mannered. This takes place in a nurturing environment with a rich and broad curriculum where high levels of pastoral care are in place. The School’s core values of Commitment, Opportunity, Respect and Excellence are embedded within this.
We believe an education should be about opportunity and choice and challenge, inspire and develop every child. At Langley Preparatory School at Taverham Hall there is a focus on personalised learning and target setting. We recognise that pupils who have a positive approach to learning make excellent progress and are successful. As a result, we put a real emphasis on nurturing a Growth Mindset culture throughout the School from Pre-Prep Early Years. Our aim is to foster a Growth Mindset in children to help shape their belief that they can change and grow throughout their lives and not limit their potential.
Our examination success at scholarship and senior school entrance level is impressive with Year 8 pupils frequently gaining scholarships to Senior Schools of their choice. In the academic year 2018-2019 18 scholarships/awards were offered to 40% of our Year 8 pupils.
The historic façade of the Taverham Hall campus belies the fine facilities within. Purpose built Pre-Prep and Pre-Prep Early Years departments provide a child friendly environment, specific to their needs. Recent additions to the Pre-Prep and Prep schools include new computing suites, IT systems and an outdoor classroom. All facilities are within the School grounds, providing safe and easy access for children at all times. View our school facilities.
Superb, supportive care
A supportive and nurturing environment is provided for all of the children in our care. We also understand working parents and busy schedules, so for pupils we offer before and after school care, including club options.
‘The quality of pastoral care is excellent. It is extremely well organised so that pupils always feel safe and well cared for in the happy family atmosphere.’ ISI
