Children’s Mental Health Week was embraced in Pre-Prep, and throughout the year, with assemblies on ‘finding your brave.’ Pupils did this by feeling inside feely pots during assembly, while also singing along to a firm favourite, The Greatest Showman, which teaches us that we can say no sometimes. Head of Prep Mr Crossley also joined in to listen to a story of brave Elmer the Elephant.
Outside of assembly, children used ‘Time to Talk’ to speak to teachers and they wrote down their feelings on ‘helping hands’ cut outs, which were displayed in the Pre-Prep.
Children’s Mental Health Week was also celebrated by the Prep School via a Wellbeing Fair, with activities including Brave Boxes, filled with things like jelly, frozen peas and cooked spaghetti. From superhero templates, pupils created their own brave characters and wonderful poetry. The Fair also featured Mindfulness Meditation and an outdoor activity involving blindfolds and wheelbarrows.
For some, finding your brave can be standing on a stage in front of hundreds at a big event, but it can also be as simple as having eye drops for the first time – two wonderful examples offered by our pupils during the special week!
