“We believe that how and where children learn is just as important as what they learn.”
I am delighted to welcome you to our Prep School.
We are proud to be known as a warm, friendly welcoming school, where academic excellence flourishes alongside creativity and fun. It is our mission to develop empowered learners and girls and boys aged 2 to 13 are encouraged to think, plan and make decisions for themselves as well as showing kindness and consideration to others.
They are given every opportunity, time and space to grow into independent learners and well-rounded citizens in our unique 100-acre woodland setting, described as a ‘paradise for pupils’ by inspectors. Such freedom allows for a huge range of learning opportunities and character development. Outside lessons take place through our fully integrated Forest School programme and learning is consolidated in our fabulous outdoor classroom.
Our pupils develop a positive approach to learning by recognising the value of their responsibility in the learning process. Importantly, the school’s Growth Mindset approach from Early Years onwards shapes children’s belief that they can change and grow throughout their lives. This is further demonstrated by our commitment to the Prep School Baccalaureate and our bespoke Wensum Award where the acquisition of life skills goes hand in hand with the acquisition of subject knowledge.
“The strength of a school is determined by the quality of its staff.”
As a school we seek to strike the right balance between school and family time and great emphasis is placed on pupil and staff wellbeing. We are determined to foster a supportive and nurturing environment for all children in our care.
Learning is a way of life here and by the time our pupils are ready to start the next stage of their education, we are proud to see them leave us as confident, independent and articulate young people, well equipped for the 21st century to successfully move on to senior school and beyond.
“It is quite possibly, if not definitely the most welcoming school on earth.” Year 8 pupil
