Our Early Years were delighted to meet Grandad Oak and Grandma Sycamore during their Forest school session this week. The children enjoyed an autumnal walk around the grounds, making sure to familiarise themselves with the safety rules of crossing internal roads, finding all sorts of wonderful minibeasts along the way. The pupils also loved being creative in making magical forest leaf crowns .
It was wonderful to hear the children’s imagination during the session. Salvatore enjoyed pretending the rocks were dinosaur eggs and the sticks were fossils and he knew that meat eater dinosaurs are carnivores, well done Salvatore!
Clark was excited to find ropes and ladybirds in woods and Hattie was very proud of her crown and expressed “I have got 5 leaves on my crown!”
Forest School and outdoor classes are very important for children’s physical and emotional development, now more than ever. The children have the freedom to enjoy new experiences, without noticing social distancing signs everywhere.
