U11A v Gresham’s
LPS@TH -252 Greshams -266
It was the girls first U11 hard ball game and for most of the team their first ever hard ball match. They faced Gresham’s who have played a few hard ball games before.
Millie and Grace S opened the batting and got the girls off to a good start scoring 27 runs between them and both of them hitting a 4.
Grace HK also hit a couple of 4s. All the girls bowled and fielded really well. Grace bowled a 3 wicket maiden & got 4 wickets overall
Evie W got 2 wickets and Issy got 1 wicket
Despite the girls brilliant bowling and fielding performance, the girls got caught out a few too many times by a very sticky wicket.
U11Bs v Gresham’s
The girls bowled first, with Sophie C opening the match. The girls’ bowling started off slow with technique lacking, creating a few extras. But as the first inning progressed, the girls quickly regained their confidence and began to bowl great lines and lengths. Emily B took two wickets and Freya S took another in the 10th over. The girls were quick on their feet and very responsive in the field. Gresham’s finished on 338 setting a high target to reach. In the second innings, Gresham’s bowling was tough to face, limiting chances for the girls but towards the end Freya stood out, scoring 4 boundaries and Olivia hitting 2 more in the last over. The girls ended on 282, a well deserved win for the opposition. Well done to Olivia being named Player of the Match.

U11Cs v Gresham’s
Our U11C team were outplayed by stronger opponents. Captain Abbie won the toss and opted to bat first. Playing their first match on an artificial wicket, and the first match for one or two, the girls struggled to adjust to a bouncier surface and found it hard to strike the ball with any conviction. They also suffered a few run outs from not backing up at the non-strike end. However, our fielding was better and we were able to stop the majority of balls that came our way. That said our biggest area that still requires work is our bowling; the majority of the opposition’s runs were given to them through wides and no balls but this did not deter our girls who did not give up. Liella got our first wicket with a great direct run out from Connie, Nicole got a wicket with a good ball and Ellie got a run out from her sister. Well done to Connie for being named Player of the Match for our team. We always take the positives from a game and make sure we learn from it, practice hard and come back stronger next time.
