“Pupils’ display high levels of self-esteem and self-confidence as a result of a culture of reward, praise and encouragement.” ISI
We believe an education should stretch, inspire and develop every child. For us, it’s all about opportunity and choice through small classes. Every child is different, so finding the learning techniques that are right for them is essential. This provides children with the tools they need to guide them through their academic life.
We recognise that pupils who have a positive approach to learning make excellent progress and are successful. As a result, we put a real emphasis on nurturing a Growth Mindset culture throughout the School from Pre-Prep Early Years to Year 8. Our aim is to foster a Growth Mindset in children to help shape their belief that they can change and grow throughout their lives and not limit their potential.
In the Reception classes each child is allocated a key person. Children thrive from a base of loving and secure relationships. A key person is a named member of staff with responsibilities for a small group of children who helps those children in the group feel safe and cared for. The role is an important one and an approach set out in the EYFS which is working successfully in settings and in Reception classes.
This role involves the key person in responding sensitively to children’s feelings and behaviours and meeting emotional needs by giving reassurance, such as when they are new to a setting or class, and supporting the child’s wellbeing. The key person supports physical needs too, helping with issues like toileting and dressing. That person is a familiar figure who is accessible and available as a point of contact for parents and one who builds relationships with the child and parents or carers.
Records of development and care are created and shared by the key person, parents and the child.
The Pre-Prep enjoys the School’s beautiful woodland setting. The modern classrooms are purpose-built and all have interactive whiteboards. Our Forest School programme also provides all children with an exciting outside learning environment.
The Pre-Prep and Prep share the excellent Sports Hall facility, indoor swimming pool as well as the extensive playing fields. We encourage our children to have healthy bodies as well as healthy minds!
