This week in Early Years our Topic has been Spring.
The children have all been very excited to learn about how the Snowdrops in our woods have grown. They have used their fine motor skills to paint, cut and stick to produce different flowers using various collage materials.
Oak class have their very own flower shop and the children have used their numeracy skills to count the flowers and write orders for a very busy Valentines day delivery. Numeracy activities have included counting groups of flowers to put in the flower pots. They have checked their given number using Numicon and the number line. RWi has incorporated the sound ‘f’ in order for the children to use it in their play associated with ‘flowers’.
The children enjoyed pretending to be bulbs that grew and stretched up to the sky during PE and were able to point out new shoots and blossom during Forest school activities.

Sam pointed out and said “the leaves start to grow” whilst Danny declared “the plants wake up and grow in spring.”

In Acorns we have created our own blossom trees, daffodils and enjoyed reading about Peppa Pig’s spring nature trail, “look my tree is pink, white and red” saus Rosie.
