Wensum Award

“Pupils can tailor the award to their interests and ability.”

Achievable for All
The Wensum Award is an inclusive award bespoke to Langley Preparatory School at Taverham Hall, available for all pupils in Years 6, 7 and 8. It is optional in Year 6 but compulsory in the top two years. There are 3 levels: bronze, silver and gold; one for each of the top three years. The Wensum Award ties in nicely with the Prep School Baccalaureate(PSB) programme and successful completion of both the silver and gold levels are a requirement for the completion of the PSB Skills Passport at the end of Year 8.

The Wensum Award offers a thought-provoking, holistic approach to recognising achievements, the uniqueness of each pupil and the comprehensive education on offer at the School. It focuses on developing skills for life such as self-confidence, independence, leadership, creative thinking, reflecting as well as a sense of well-being. A record is kept in the Wensum Award Booklet which focuses on the following 3 areas:

Showcasing Strengths
Taking on Challenge
Experiencing the New

Learning to embrace challenges and see mistakes as learning opportunities are very much in keeping with the School’s Growth Mindset ethos and will help pupils to be well-equipped for the 21st century. Steps pupils will need to undertake when planning their Wensum Award experiences: preparation, planning, starting off, implementation, completion and last but certainly not least celebration!
