On Sunday 30 June Year 6 pupil, Ethan C, represented the School at the Delancy UK Chess Challenge Gigafinal in London.

Against extremely well seasoned and experienced chess players he displayed a fantastic effort and a resilient and positive attitude. Out of six games he drew 1, earned a Bye in one game and put up a good fight in other games with some quite long matches.

The Gigafinals represent the ‘semi-finals’ of the world’s largest chess competition with only the strongest players qualifying from each region.
40,000 children enter the UK Chess Challenge but less than 7% qualify for the Gigafinals.

Well done – we are all very proud of Ethan’s effort and achievement. This has been a fantastic experience for him.
