Two of our Langley School athletes have been selected to race for the GB U16 kayak sprint racing team at the Junior International Regatta in Brandenburg Germany on the 24th, 25th and 26th of May. This event attracts junior sprint teams from all over the world. Toby Booth and Sofia Groves won their places at the K2 national selection regatta at Nottingham with some outstanding performances. Sofia paddling with Grace Anderson (of Wymondham School) were the fastest U16 crew in both 500m and 200m and Toby Booth and Ben Want (of Wymondham High School) stamped their authority on the junior men’s 200m K2 winning the U18 race by a boat length which was a remarkable performance. Both athletes have a bright future ahead in sprint kayaking and are benefitting from the support of the Langley Kayaking Academy in their development and the close relationship Langley School have with Norwich Canoe Club. Tim Scott, the Langley School kayak coach, has been invited to be part of the GB Coaching Team in Brandenburg.
