Harry Potter Book Night was embraced across Langley School in some very impressive and creative ways.

At Langley we run almost 100 extra curricular activities, and many of them were gladly ‘Potterfied’ by our excited staff.

In our popular Dissection Club, the group dissected a ‘Hungarian Horntail Dragon’ head, while our Reading Café listened to an extract of the wonderful Stephen Fry’s audio book of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. The Debating Club discussed things like Umbridge and Voldermort, Harry and Hermione, and the value of the sorting hat. In our Quick Bakes cooking group, pupils decorated delicious looking Harry Potter cupcakes, and Gardening Club learnt about and drew some great pictures of Mandrakes.

There is always a lot going on in our library to celebrate and encourage reading, so it was a great opportunity to decorate the space with all things Harry Potter. At break time there were themed word searches, quizzes and colouring for everyone to enjoy. Then a lunch break quiz, which pupils could enter individually or in teams, that included chocolate frog prizes. A big well done to Year 11 Tom S, the overall winner, who answered 13 out of 15 questions correctly!
