Langley Cricket

Langley has a year-round cricket programme from recreational to performance level across the age groups for both boys and girls.

Our Aims: Developing our young people through the ethos and values of cricket
Our three-tier programme is structured to enable participation at all levels of ability – from growing as beginners, to improving as achievers and to inspiring all at the elite performance level. The programme is designed and overseen by our Director of Cricket and Cricket Professional, Mike Jones.
Set in 110 acres of beautiful Norfolk Countryside, Langley has three fantastic cricket squares which allow us to have an extensive cricket fixture list, which we prepare for during winter training sessions in our two net lane sports hall and gym. With around sixty games per season scheduled, multiple teams compete weekly from U11 up to 1st XI standard. Saturday block fixtures are scheduled as well as mid-week fixtures, including regional and national cups and various 6 a side competitions. Whenever there are not Saturday fixtures, pupils can continue their cricket development by representing their clubs. Whilst we do not put the emphasis on winning, we ensure that all our pupils feel included and that they are able to have an influence on the match and excel when the opportunity arises.
Langley has a flourishing Sports Partnership with Northants County Cricket Club, a first-class cricket county that provides us with training facilities and match day experiences throughout the season, as well as providing a pathway for some of Langley’s elite Norfolk County cricketers to further develop their game and opportunities.
Whilst focussed on cricket, our programme teaches skills that are transferrable to a range of sports with an emphasis on the importance of physical fitness, mental wellbeing and social development whilst instilling the traditional values and sportsmanship that underpin cricket and set it apart from any other sport.
Perfectly aligned with our School’s ethos, our three cricket programme tiers ensure that everyone participates and benefits. From that foundation, the more able are coached to extend their range of skills and the most able mentored through their elite development, mind-set and performance.
